Supplies
Please check your individual teachers website or newsletter for needed supplies. Thank you to all those that have sent in supplies !
Thank you for the supplies and wish list items that have been sent in so far !
First Grade homework will always include:
1.) Please be sure students are reading 15 minutes each night.
Reading Response : PLEASE READ ! Students should have 2 entries completed by Friday. One for fiction and one for non-fiction. Please look for a new letter concerning the Reading Response HW. The format has changed, students should use a different prompt every night. Students should read a different book for each prompt.
2.) The nightly spelling homework. The spelling assignments are to be completed in your child's spelling journal ONLY. Please make sure that the spelling homework is being completed in the spelling journal.
Monday The students will read their spelling words, tricky words and new spelling sentences two times each to the parent, then the parent signs and dates the spelling list that was sent home.
Tuesday The students will copy the "Look-Say, Cover, Write" chart onto their writing paper provided. First, they look at the word and read it. Next, they cover the word and try to spell (write it) in on the provided writing paper. Lastly, the students will write the word again for extra practice.
Wednesday The students will write 5 sentences with 5 spelling words of their choice. The students are allowed to choose the 5 spelling words they would like to use.
Thursday The students are to take a practice spelling test to prepare for the spelling test on Friday.
